There are various ailments like skin infections, urinary tract infections and other infections for which the fungi are the reason. The diseases occurring due to fungi are categorized as fungal diseases or fungal infections. These infections sometimes result into severe health complications so it is very important that everyone must have knowledge about the fungal infections and symptoms associated with these.

What are Fungi?
A fungus (plural….fungi is any member of the group of eukaryotic organisms that includes microorganisms such as yeasts and molds, as well as the more familiar mushrooms.
Fungal diseases are caused by fungi which are present everywhere on this earth. There are around 1.5 millions different species of fungi but only about 300 of those are pathogenic.

Aspergillosis is caused by the fungus Aspergillus. This fungus is commonly found in stored grain, dead leaves, and decaying vegetation. Aspergillosis occurs in the people who are exposed to this fungus and these infections rarely occur in the people who have a healthy immune system.
• It results in the allergic pulmonary aspergillosis which is developed in the people who are already suffering from lungs complications like cystic fibrosis or asthma.
• Aspergilloma is also due to this fungal diseases and develops in the people who have lungs abscess and tuberculosis.
• Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis is a severe infection in association with pneumonia. And mostly occur in the people with weakened immune system.
Candidiasis is a fungal disease due to any type of Candida (a type of yeast). When it affects the mouth, it is commonly called thrush. Signs and Symptoms include white patches on the tongue or other areas of the mouth and throat. Other symptoms may include soreness and problems swallowing. When it affects the vagina, it is commonly called a yeast infection. Signs and symptoms include genital itching, burning, and sometimes a white “cottage cheese-like” discharge from the vagina. Less commonly the penis may be affected, resulting in itchiness. Very rarely, the infection may become invasive, spreading to other parts of the body. This may result in fevers along with other symptoms depending on the parts involved.
There are approximately 20 species of candida yeast but the most common species is Candida albicans. Candida normally is present on the skin, mucous membrane but overgrowth of these microorganisms results in the infections.
Oral candidiasis is the yeast infection of the mouth or oral thrush. This type of infection is mostly seen in the people who take antibiotics, diabetic people and people with weakened immune system.
